Texans sign Monk

  • The Houston Texans announced today that they have placed their seventh player, LB Troy Evans (left ankle), on the Reserve/Injured list. They have signed LB Quincy Monk to their active roster.

Evans (6-1, 237) was the Texans leading special teams tackler with 16 stops. He was forced to leave Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts in the first half with a high ankle sprain. The former Cincinnati Bearcat returned to the game, but could not continue into the second half.

This is the second consecutive year

Monk (6-3, 250) played his first two NFL seasons with the New York Giants, where he totaled seven career special teams tackles. The former seventh round draft pick will be reunited with linebacker coach Tom Olivadotti, who coached Monk in

during his first two NFL seasons. The former North Carolina Tar Heel was waived by the Giants on September 5.
