Texans sign third-round draft pick G Brandon Brooks

HOUSTON - The Houston Texans have signed third-round draft pick G Brandon Brooks. Houston now has all eight members of its 2012 draft class under contract heading into training camp, which begins on Saturday, July 28.

Brooks (6-5, 346) was selected with the 76th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft out of Miami (Ohio). He started 41-of-45 games he played for the Redhawks on the offensive line. Brooks registered 287 knockdowns and 47 blocks that resulted in touchdowns, including 35 of the 40 rushing touchdowns scored during his tenure at Miami.

Brooks, 22, was named second-team All-MAC three times during his career and was an All-American honorable mention during his senior season. He shifted to right guard in 2011 and recorded 10 blocks that resulted in touchdowns and a career-high 90 knockdowns as the Redhawks averaged 372.9 yards per game.
