Texans to host Copa Libertadores

HOUSTON - Reliant Stadium along with Lone Star Sports and Entertainment will play host to another major International Soccer Competition on Friday, January 9 - 11 as part of the Copa Libertadores Qualification Competition that comes to Houston, Texas for the first time ever. This event will feature eight of the premier teams in the Mexican first-division as they battle to represent their country in the chase for the prestigious Copa Libertadores. Lone Star Sports and Entertainment will hold a press conference at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, in the Houston Texans Media Workroom.

The Copa Libertadores began in 1960 and annually crowns the club champion of the southern Americas. Two teams from each participating country are allowed to enter the competition and the tournament held here in Houston will help determine which Mexican teams will earn the right to battle for the title in this prestigious cup competition.

The double-header matches to be held in Houston are as follows:

7:00 p.m. Morelia vs. Santos

9:30 p.m. Chivas vs. Toluca

Sunday, January 11, 2004

1:00 p.m. Atlante vs. Atlas

3:30 p.m. Club America vs. Tigres

Tickets for the matches will go on sale Friday, December 12 at 5 p.m. and can be purchased at all Ticketmaster Outlets, Ticketmaster.com, or by calling Ticketmaster at (713) 629-3700. Ticket prices are $20, $25, $30 and $40 per day. Groups of 20 or more can purchase tickets for $16. Fans can purchase group tickets by calling 1-866-GO-TEXANS.
