Getting better up front, defensively, is a goal for the 2020 Texans.
The mock drafters agree, as two-thirds of those surveyed think Houston will select an interior defensive lineman or pass rusher with its first pick in this year's Draft.
In late August they dealt their 2020 and 2021 first round selections to the Dolphins for Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil and receiver Kenny Stills. Last month, the Texans dealt receiver DeAndre Hopkins and this year's fourth round pick to Arizona, and got back the 40th overall pick, running back David Johnson, and a fourth round selection in 2021.
Two weeks ago, the Rams sent receiver Brandin Cooks to the Texans in exchange for the 57th overall pick in the Draft.
So Houston's first draft pick is Arizona's second round selection, at 40.
Five different players got mocked to Houston by two mock drafters: pass rushers A.J. Epenesa and Zack Baun of Iowa and Wisconsin respectively, interior defensive linemen Ross Blacklock of TCU and Auburn's Marlon Davidson, and Clemson cornerback A.J. Terrell.
So 12 of 18 mocks had Houston going with front seven help, two had the Texans choosing a corner, two saw Houston taking a receiver, and one mock draft apiece had the Texans going with a running back and a safety.
In all, the Texans enter the Draft with seven picks.
