Texans sign free agent QB AJ McCarron

The Houston Texans signed free agent QB A.J. McCarron. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

McCarron, 28, has appeared in 13 career regular season games (three starts) and one postseason game over five seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals (2014-17) and Oakland Raiders (2018). He was also signed and traded by the Buffalo Bills in 2018. For his career, McCarron (6-3, 215) is 87-for-136 passing (64.0 pct.) for 928 yards, six touchdowns, two interceptions and a 92.4 quarterback rating. A native of Mobile, Alabama, McCarron was drafted by the Bengals with the 24th pick in the fifth round (164th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft. At Alabama, McCarron was a part of three BCS National Championships (2009, 2011 and 2012) and finished runner-up for the 2013 Heisman Trophy.
