Biography

TRANSACTIONS: Selected by the Houston Texans in the third round (67th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft.

CAREER:

Played in 34 games (26 starts) and completed 573-of-912 passes for 5,955 yards (62.8 percent) and recorded 35 touchdowns and 25 interceptions for a passer rating of 83.0 percent. Also rushed 52 times for 161 yards (3.1 avg.) and two touchdowns. Completed a pass for six yards in his one career playoff game
Set numerous rookie records including being the first rookie quarterback to to finish a game with 300-plus passing yards, three-plus touchdowns and a passer rating of 140.0 or higher and completing a franchise-record 14-consecutive passes to open a game, the most consecutive pass completions to start a game by a rookie quarterback since at least the 1991 season

2023 (Houston 6/0, 1/0):

Saw action in six games this season and completed 18-of-39 passing attempts for 173 yards and two touchdowns while recording two rushes for 9 yards
Came into the game in Week 16 vs. Cleveland (12/24) in the fourth quarter, completing 15-of-32 passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns while rushing twice for 9 yards

2022 (Houston 15/15):

Threw for a career-high 3,118 yards and 17 touchdowns, completing 292-of-479 passes during the season
Started the season opener vs. Indianapolis, passing for 240 yards and two touchdowns (9/11)

Spent four seasons (2017-20) at Stanford (Calif.) University, where he played in 14 games (11 starts) and totaled 3,468 passing yards on 287-of-438 completions (65.5 percent) with 18 touchdowns and eight interceptions
Earned All-Pac-12 honorable mention honors from the coaches and was given the Irving S. Zeimer Award for Team MVP for the 2020 season
In 2019, saw action in eight games (six starts) and threw for 1,960 yards on 158-of-241 passes (65.6%) with 11 touchdowns
Set the single-game school record with 504 passing yards on career-highs of 33 completions and 50 attempts at Washington State (11/16/19)
Earned the Allstate Sugar Bowl Manning Award Star of the Week after passing for 245 yards at Oregon State (9/28/19) and the Gundelach Award for being the Most Outstanding Junior player for the Cardinals
Made his collegiate debut in a victory vs. UC Davis (9/15/18) during his sophomore season
Passed for 428 yards on 32-of-47 completions (68.1 percent) for three touchdowns in a double-overtime victory at UCLA (12/19) his final year at Stanford

Was the nation's top-ranked quarterback by Scout and Rivals and totaled 6,290 career passing yards and 66 touchdowns in his high school career

Has two sisters, Erin and Ali, who both played tennis at Tusculum and South Carolina, respectively
