Last fall, Janice S. McNair, co-founder and senior chair of the Houston Texans, donated $50,000 to support the construction of a new playground at Mission of Yahweh. The Mission of Yahweh is a faith-based shelter that has been empowering, enriching and restoring the lives of homeless women and children and provides outreach services to low-income communities since 1961.

The Houston Texans surprised three local nonprofits with $30,000 in Digital Divide Grants through the United Way of Greater Houston. The "Digital Divide" is defined as the gulf between those who have ready access to computers and the internet, and those who do not. These grants will assist with providing access to the technology needed to close the gap.

To celebrate the USO's 80th birthday, the Houston Texans, in partnership with United Airlines, provided lunch for 100 service members on Thursday. Boxed lunches were distributed in a drive-through at Rankin Road Armory, which houses units from the National Guard and Army Reserve.

On Wednesday, TORO and Houston Texans Cheerleaders surprised four employees at Texas Children's Hospital West Campus with the news and gift bags for their upcoming trip. The Texans will be sending Texas Children's Hospital West Campus Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Medical Director Dr. Matthew Pesek, nurses Matt Rivera and Bhumi Patel and respiratory therapist Kaitlin Hernandez to Sunday's game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

North Shore High School's Coach Joh Kay was recognized as the Houston Texans and Houston Methodist Hospital's Coach of the Year for his dedication to his athletes and coaches.

A Houston native, Michael Thomas has always been on the forefront of making the community around him a better place en route to his Walter Payton Man of the Year nomination. Thomas has focused on social justice issues and his approach has been two-fold, centering on advocacy and education while driving legislative change. In 2020, he created the unique design of the NFLPA's "END RACISM" pre-game warm-ups, organized a Texans players-only video calling for social justice reform and generated over $17,000 for HBCU scholarship funds by auctioning off special game memorabilia. Lastly, his annual free football camp, "Camp Mike T", is reflective of Thomas' dedication to empower young Houstonians while providing them with the additional resources to become impactful citizens in today's society.

Texans LB Jacob Martin and Legend ND Kalu joined Houston Police Department Executive Assistant Chief Troy Finner, and teens from the Greater Houston Police Activities League (GHPAL) program for a virtual dialogue on social justice and relational policing. Teens had the opportunity to ask the panelists questions and engage in a meaningful conversation about policing. The mission of GHPAL is to reduce juvenile crime and violence through "relational policing" which includes building trusting relationships between youth, law enforcement and the community. This program is part of the Houston Texans commitment to strengthen relationships between youth and police officers through positive police and community interactions.

The Houston Sports Hall of Fame unveiled a Walk of Fame plaque for the Texans' late founder Robert C. McNair on Thursday.

As part of the Attend to Win program with HISD last Fall, Reliant and the Houston Texans committed over $100K in prizes to students and teachers with high attendance, including $20,000 in technology grants.

The Houston Texans hosted a Christmas Drive-thru for kids from the Houston Texans YMCA. TORO and Texans Legends Cecil Shorts III, Anthony Hill, Moran Norris and Earl Mitchell distributed toys, stockings, and gifts as well as diapers, grocery cards and clothes purchased by the Lady Texans for the families.

The gift from the Texans not only provided a fresh new makeover of the unit in the Hometown Teams' colors of Deep Steel Blue, Battle Red and Liberty White, but also provided resources to help enhance the quality of life for the patients that utilize it.

The Texans hosted a holiday party for members of the Houston Texans Teen Club, a club supported by the Texans and part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston. This club serves youth ages 14 – 18 in a safe, fun, environment with programs in leadership, health and wellness, and college and career development. At the party, the teens were each surprised with a brand-new tablet for school and enjoyed an outdoor screening of a holiday movie classic with Cheerleaders and TORO.
